The cover of the July 1981 issue of Travel & Leisure featured a sunset photo of Cornwall in England, showing that this place is one of the primary focuses of this particular issue. As this was published the same month as the royal wedding between Princess Diana and Prince Charles, the focus on Cornwall and/or England as a noteworthy destination for people to visit and explore is likely closely related to the upcoming wedding. This is especially evident as Travel & Leisure is an American magazine headquartered in New York City, and the two issues immediately before and after July 1981 had covers highlighting the United States. The fact that Diana and the royal wedding were in some way influential towards the topics of travel writing and people’s escape from everyday life shows how much of a cultural presence Diana had around the globe.
