This flag was designed in 1978 by gay activist Gilbert Baker as a pride symbol for the gay community. There are 8 colored stripes, with each stripe representing an aspect of queer life: pink is representative of sex, red is representative of life, orange is representative of healing, yellow is representative of the sun and sunlight, green is representative of nature, cyan is representative of magic and art, blue is representative of serenity, and purple is representative of spirit.
