This photograph depicts the Mona Lisa’s display in the Musée du Louvre. This is where the Mona Lisa has remained since it returned from its tour of Japan and Russia. This masterpiece’s permanent home is in the Salle des États room of the Musée du Louvre in Paris, France. This is the seventh and final image in “The Trials, Travels and Thrills of the Mona Lisa” as the French government has repeatedly denied international requests to display the Mona Lisa. Consistently, the Mona Lisa is considered one of the most popular and treasured artworks of all time. Every year, an estimated 10.2 million people go to the Musée du Louvre for a glimpse of this masterpiece. The continuing interest in everything related to the Mona Lisa provides some insight into how our perceptions as viewers of this masterpiece has been and continues to change.
