This is the cover for U2’s 3rd album, War. The boy on the cover also appeared on the cover of their first album, Boy. In the picture on the first album, he had a very nonchalant and ambiguous expression. However, on this one, he has a much tougher expression with a cut lip. This very much alludes to the overall theme of this album as they address the Troubles in Northern Ireland, nuclear proliferation, and the Polish solidarity movement in the first 3 songs alone.

This album was definitely more heavy compared to the previous albums and the album cover very clearly expresses that.
